Adopt-A-Cat Shelter

Thank You for Your Interest in Volunteering With the Alaska Humane Society Adopt-A-Cat Shelter!

Volunteers work in two-hour shifts from 7pm-9pm Monday – Friday and 1pm-3pm Saturday and Sunday.

Volunteers must be 16 years or older but we do welcome volunteers ages 12 – 15 with adult supervision at all times.

Volunteer duties include scooping litter boxes, washing water bowls, refilling food and water bowls, sweeping, mopping and finally, petting and socializing cats. However, if you have some special skills (e.g., carpentry, electric, grant writing, etc.), we would like to hear about it as we have additional opportunities outside of the shelter environment.

IMPORTANT:

Prior to volunteering, please email the Volunteer Coordinator at adoptacat907@gmail.com to set up a time to get trained.

Please do not show up at the shelter expecting to volunteer as we may not be able to accommodate training on that day if we are short-staffed.

 Ready to volunteer?

Please complete our Volunteer Application. After receiving your application, we will contact you to arrange a date for your training. Training occurs during the volunteer shifts described above.

Want to volunteer as a group?

Please email adoptacat907@gmail.com to find out about the opportunities available for group volunteers.

Thank you!
