Adopt-A-Cat Shelter

About the Board

The AHS Board of Directors is made up of six long-time volunteers. The positions include President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and two Directors. The board meets at least once a month to make decisions on shelter operations, budgets, and strategically plan for the shelter’s continuation into the future.

Our Partnership with our Ameowzing Vet Clinic

The cats at our shelter receive quality vet care through our partnership with VCA Bering Sea Animal Clinic. We greatly appreciate the care our cats receive from their amazing vet team and the positive relationship we have with them.

Our Ameowzing Volunteers!

The Alaska Humane Society is 100% volunteer run.

Our volunteers come to the shelter daily to care for the cats we have on-site. During this time, volunteers assess the health of the cats, administer medication, drive cats to/from their veterinary appointments, clean the shelter, provide water and food, and socialize with the cats onsite. Our volunteers also do plenty of work away from the shelter, including managing our social media pages and website, seeking out fundraising opportunities, purchasing supplies for the shelter (like food and litter), coordinating adoptions, and much, much more.

Without our ameowzing volunteers, we would not be able to accomplish our mission. We are so thankful for all of our generous volunteers who choose to dedicate their time to improve the lives of the cats in our care.
