Adopt-A-Cat Shelter

Who We Are

The Alaska Humane Society Adopt-a-Cat
Shelter was founded in 1979, and established
its first shelter in 1988.
Our Mission is to:
Rescue, Rehabilitate, and Re-home cats in Alaska.
We provide a loving, safe, and comfortable home for cats in need.
The Adopt-a-Cat shelter aims to save as
many cats as we can. Our key principles are:
1) Every cat deserves respect and a
2) responsible, loving owner;
3) Stray cats need to be brought inside and
cared for;
4) Euthanasia will not result from the
inability to be adopted and medical care
is based on quality of life.

Where Do Our Cats Come From?

Some have been surrendered by owners, some
were found as strays, and some were found
abandoned.
The Alaska Humane Society provides the cats with care, food, medical attention as needed, and a home until they are adopted. Not every cat is adopted, and those who are not will stay
with the shelter as long as they live.
